Synonym Pleurothallis alvaroi. Small sized cold growing epiphyte found in Colombia at elevations of 2000 meters.
Acronia ascera

Synonym Pleurothallis ascera. Publish by Luer & R. Escobar in 1996. A cool growing medium sized epiphyte from Costa Rica to Colombia at approximately 4250 feet (1300 meters). This species has leaves up to 5-6" and flowers are up to 1" fully opened. The flowers emerge from the base of the leaf from a papery sheath in winter. The mature leaves are very attractive so it makes a nice specimen when not in flower.

I have this plant mounted on cork and I keep it moist at all times. It gets about 500 foot candles of light and is 70F/55F in winter and 85F/60F in the summer. It could probably be kept a bit cooler in the winter and may need more shade in the summer.

Acronia phalangifera

I received this plant as Acronia sanchoi a couple years back. It's way to large for that species. The leaves are about 6" long and 3" wide on 8" petioles. After the flowers opened it appears to be Acronia (Pleurothallis) phalangifera

Acronia quaternaria

Medium sized epiphyte found Colombia

Acronia radula

Synonym Pleurothallis radula. Published by Luer in 2005. An intermediate growing medium sized epiphyte from Costa Rica at approximately 6230 feet (1900 meters). This species has leaves up to 5-6" on petioles of 8" and flowers are up to 3/4" fully opened. The flowers emerge from the base of the leaf from a papery sheath in winter. The mature leaves are heart shape and very attractive so it makes a nice specimen when not in flower.

I have this plant mounted on cork and I keep it moist at all times. It gets about 500 foot candles of light and is 70F/55F in winter and 85F/60F in the summer. It could probably be kept a bit cooler in the winter and may need more shade in the summer.

I received a cutting of this hard to find plant from Marilyn Allen. Unfortunately the cutting rotted. I later got 2 more cuttings and they have rooted and seem to be doing well but evaporated during the winter. So, I'm in search of this once again.

I had this listed as squamulosa but I'm now thinking it is M lycopodioides which also has dark outlines veins and a rust colored rhizome. squamulosa has a whitish color rhizome.

Syn Solanopteris brauni. This is a difficult plant to grow and I have had it on several occasions and it did not do well. I decided to give it one last try. It's an Ant Plant. Ants inhabit the nodules that are produced along the rhizome. Recently classified as a Microgramma.
Microgramma nitida

This fern has a sort of flat rhizome with 3-4 inch fronds.
Microgramma reptans

A really nice creeping fern which is ideal for the terrarium. Very similar to Microgramma pileselloides.

Very nice epiphytic caudiciform.
Monstera adansonii

Syn: Monstera friedrichallsii A nice fast growing species. Not positive on the name since there are many Monsteras that look very similar. Rooted cuttings.

A beautiful plant known for it's edible spadix. Nice cuttings with leaves about 8 to 12"
Monstera dubia

A shingle plant that clings to the surface and creates an attractive background. Rare. There is some controversy about wether this is really Monstera dubia or a Raphidophora species. The person I got this from said they collected it in SA so I'm sticking with this name for now.
Monstera obliqua

A small growing very interesting Monstera. Tends to form clomps as it grows.

Peperomia pellucida

A delicate epiphyte that is similar in habit to Peperomia sp Costa Rica. This plant can stand a great deal of dryness considering how delicate it looks. I don;t remember where this plant came from. Self Sows freely.

Syn P angulata. Trailing growth habit. Leaves 1" on a rambling stem. Very easy but can be slow. Loves humidity and medium light. I grew my original plant from a cutting I got at UNCC McMillian Greenhouse. I have also found this as an EA plant. It does tend to rot in cold damp conditions.

This species has leaves up to 6-8" and flowers are up to 1/4" fully opened. The flowers emerge in clusters of many per leaf from the base of the leaf from a papery sheath in winter.

I have this plant mounted on cork and I keep it moist at all times. It gets about 500 foot candles of light and is 70F/55F in winter and 85F/60F in the summer. It could probably be kept a bit cooler in the winter and may need more shade in the summer.
